[Review] ByWishtrend, Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water

This product is kindly provided by Wishtrend in exchange for my honest reviews and thoughts on it.

Hello, guys!
Today I would like to write a review about an exfoliator toner that I received last month from ByWishtrend.

When talking about exfoliating toners, Pixi Glow Tonic would first come to my mind, as it is one of the earlier ones to emerge and quickly became a cult favorite. Then came The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, at a fraction of Pixi Glow Tonic price and with a bigger volume. What these two have in common is that both contain glycolic acid, which has the smallest acid molecule and can be irritating to sensitive skin folks – like me–.

ByWishtrend last year has come up their own gentle exfoliating toner targeted for sensitive skin, which is the By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water.

Mandelic acid has the largest molecule structure, therefore, it is the least to cause irritation because it penetrates the skin more slowly than glycolic acid. It also has anti-bacterial properties, which can help with inflammatory acnes.

Key Ingredients
Mandelic acid
As one of the AHA ingredients, it has a large molecular size which causes very little irritation to the skin.
It helps to improve pigmentation as well as to restore aged skin. It also has antibacterial properties that are effective for inflammatory acne.

Beta-Glucan
Moisturizing, redness reduction, anti-inflammatory and soothing effects.

Panthenol
Also known as vitamin B5, it acts as a humectant and moisturizer, improving the skin’s abilities to regenerate and to maintain hydration. It is also used to prevent inflammation and to prevent itching.

Centella Asiatica Extract
Helps regenerate damaged skin.

Sodium Hyaluronate
As a natural moisturizing factor, it attracts moisture and helps retain moisture within the skin, preventing dryness after exfoliation. (via Wishtrend.com)

After having tried out a variety of different exfoliators this one was my last resort. I had tried “gentle” exfoliants such as the NEOGEN pads, the semi-successful SecretKey peel, the painful Klairs scrub, the Skinfood Black Sugar Wash Off and the COSRX BHA power liquid. However, none of them managed to get deep enough and free me from my pesky dry spots.

This is my holy grail. After use, my skin is notably softer and smoother, and my skin is so hydrated it looks like I did the 7 skin method and when I wake up my skin glows.

I notice the next morning the products I use absorb really fast compared to when I don’t use this the night before.

It took the product about 2 – 3 weeks to eliminate all signs of dry patches and flakiness. I started out by using it daily and then switched over to every other day after the third week. The results emerged slowly but steadily. I did not expect this product to clear my skin out overnight and as a result, I was not disappointed.

I won’t lie, if you add too much it can sting. Moreover, my face is noticeably redder than usual when I apply the product. Nevertheless, I have not felt discomfort when using it.

I can say with deep honesty that I have not had to struggle with any type of dryness after I started using this product. My skin feels very smooth and my makeup FINALLY sits perfectly. I look forward to using this during the winter.

Pros

  • Lives up to its promises.
  • Clears skin of dead skin, dry patches, and flakiness.

Cons

  • The scent might be too strong for some.
